I would like to take a moment to personally thank you for visiting my website. It's a genuine pleasure to be your host, and I'm humbled that you'd take time to spend some time with me here.
You could say that fishing is in my blood. I've been fishing since I was just a little kid. My dad was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he had me in a boat when I was still in diapers. I'm proud to say that now that I'm a dad, every one of them has been in the boat with me before they were out of diapers, too. I guess the competitive part of bass fishing has always appealed to me. When I was in the 4th grade I started fishing club tournaments with dad. He taught me how to pitch and flip, and to this day, it's my strongest technique.
Through 5th and 6th grades, I was fishing the CBA tour, volunteering for B.A.S.S. and fishing the Jerry Rhyne circuit. Even as a kid, I got a bunch of top 10 finishes fishing against all those guys, and that was just a lot of fun. I won my first tournament at age 13 with a $5,000 payout, and you can believe I thought I was pretty big stuff.
At age 16 I got my first sponsorships. Mercury outboard brought me on as part of their VIF program, and Zebco, Quantum, and Motorguide all brought me similar sponsorships. I started guiding for Tennessee Guide Service that year, too.
When I was 17 I started fishing the BFL Choo Choo division, and I made the regionals in that first year. In the years to follow, that became the Wal Mart BFL and I fished that and other corporately sponsored tournaments, with lots of top finishes.
I got my biggest sponsorship in 2002 when I got picked up by Pure Fishing / Berkley. To this day, I'm a Berkley company ambassador and product showcase specialist. In 2005 I qualified for the Citgo Bassmaster Open circuit and currently fish the Southern Tour out of my Pro Craft boat with a Mercury motor, wrapped and sponsored by Custom Textile Printing.
I've been honored to have been on or made apperances at Good Morning America, The Bassmaster Classic, ESPN, and too many local and regional television appearances to count. Right now I'm on Bass Pro Shops pro staff, actively working for Berkley, and proud of every sponsor and partner who I'm able to help represent.
One of my great joys in life is helping people get more out of their fishing experiences, and I get to do that in my seminars. I also get to do that when someone books me for a guide trip. I love getting people into fish, and teaching them how to catch more and bigger fish when we're on the water together.
I get an equal thrill from taking my boys out on the water. My wife, Angela, and I have three awesome sons - Wesley, Blake and Bailey. When I'm not on the water, I'm coaching their little league teams, and I was real proud to go to the state championships with them this year.
I look forward to speaking with you one-on-one. Whether I can represent your brand and help you sell product through a sponsorship, take you out on the water for a great day of fishing, or just swap fish tales, I hope you'll give me a call or send me an e-mail. It would be great to meet and visit with you.
Best wishes, good fishing, and God Bless! - Darren Gallaher
